Search Engine Optimization: Big Name, Bigger Results

Search engine optimization is a big term with huge implications for the success of your website marketing.

Website marketing relies heavily on search engine optimization, a technique which focuses on getting your website to the top of the results pages of search engines by using popular search terms. Your company will be able to attract more potential customers to its site if it ranks high on these result pages.

By following certain steps, you can make sure that the search engines can easily identify and understand what your site is about. In turn, your site will rank well and receive more traffic from quality prospects. Here are a few of the most important search engine optimization techniques.

* Research and utilize keywords appropriately. To find keywords for your site, think about what words and phrases your potential customers would be likely to search for online. Make them your keywords and use them extensively in your website’s content. You should not overuse them, however. There are specific keyword densities you should aim for in your web pages. SEO consultants can help you with using keywords on your site. They research which keywords are best for your website, and compare your Search Engine Optimization against your competitors’ sites to help you stay ahead of other competing businesses.

* Prepare title tags properly. Title tags have a lot to do with how well your site will rank with search engines. That is because their robots use these tags to identify and organize website content. By writing title tags that are interesting and attention grabbing, you will be able to get more click-throughs from search engine result pages.

* Use internal links. A properly designed system of internal links is an excellent way to get search engines to identify your individual pages. It also helps visitors navigate your site easily. Text links, inline text links, and footers are all internal link methods you can utilize.

Keep in mind that search engine optimization only gets the customers “in the door,” so to speak. Once the visitor has arrived, you must be sure that quality navigation, design, content and similar features will keep him there.

Making Money Quick – Keyword Targeting

Many people are looking for the fastest and cheapest way to make money at home online, and the most efficient way to achieve seo optimization. The best way – known as “Keyword Targeting” and sometimes referred to as “Keyword Sniping”, is misunderstood.

The idea behind keyword sniping is to look for keyword phrases of three or more words which are relevant to the product being sold. These phrases are known as “long tail keywords”.

Many people also misunderstand what is meant by the term “long tail keywords”. They are not simply keyword phrases that are long. The term is based on a graph of phrase popularity versus search volume.

Picture a simple graph. On the verticle scale is “search volume” from low to high. On the horizontal scale is “phrase popularity” from high to low. The most basic and popular keyword phrases of one and two words would have very high popularity and very high search volume (and VERY HIGH competition). The longer, narrower keyword phrases, on the other hand, would have much lower popularity and search volume (and also much lower competition).

For example, the phrase “weight loss” is extremely broad and popular. But with 347 million competitors, it would be impossible to rank on the first page of Google. If you lengthen the phrase, though, the competition goes down dramatically. For example, the phrase “weight loss after pregnancy” has 43,600 competitors as of this date, while the phrase “weight loss programs after pregnancy” has only 8 competitors.

A graph of this trend would show the basic and popular one or two word keyword phrases at the very top. There would then be a line forming a steep, sort of “suicide ski jump” curve as the keyword phrases become longer and more specific.

The term “long tail” keywords simply refers to the longer keyword phrases which form the “long tail” of the graph. They are critical to any attempt at making money quick on the Internet. Why? Because these kinds of phrases are very numerous, and each one has very little competition.

Of course, they each have far less search volume. But taken together, you can accumulate fairly decent search volume if you have enough of them together in your article marketing campaign. More importantly, you stand a fair chance of ranking on the first page of Google with some of them because the competition is so low.

Does any of this really work in practice? This is where many people misunderstand how to properly target keywords. Experience plays a role, but so do instinct and intuition.

Just looking at the competition versus monthly search volume isn’t enough. The truth is that unless you rank on the fist page of Google for your long tail keyword phrase (preferably “above the fold”) you are not going to get ANY traffic. In order to do that, you have to study the nature of the top ten competitors for each long tail phrase you are targeting. If each one has a Google page rank (PR) of 4 or better, and each one has numerous backlinks from credible sites, you are going to have problems.

Those who are experienced in “keyword targeting” are able to do this. They can pick out the phrases that have a good balance of competition versus search volume, yet can compete for a slot in the top ten.

How do you do that? In a future article I will address some of the tools and parameters that successful keyword snipers use.

Keyword Elite – The Ultimate Keyword Research Program?

If you want to be successful online, then you should perform some proper keyword research. That’s why it’s important to have the proper tools at your disposal. This will enable you to generate relevant keywords quickly and easily.

The tool that I tell most of my clients to use is called Keyword Elite. It allows you to create huge lists of 15,000+ keywords very fast. The tool is able to determine which keywords are part of your chosen market and tell you how much competitors are paying for each one. The software utilizes the keyword info found on the Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask.com search engines. In addition, if you are a WordTracker or Keyword Discovery member, you can put your data into Keyword Elite to get more detailed results.

Another feature I like about Keyword Elite is its ability to keep track of your competition. You can create a separate project for everyone you want to track and keep an eye on them at all times. By doing this, you can see what’s making them successful and copy the working parts of their campaigns.

Although I have seen better looking software out there, the interface is quite functional and works quite well. I like the way the filters are designed which enable you to more easily find what you are looking for. By looking only at the relevant keywords, you can don’t have to worry about all the unimportant stuff that other tools give you.

Keyword Elite is also great for niche marketers. With the product, it enables you to quickly assemble a ton of useful information on your target market and the things people are buying in that market. By focusing on niches with little competition, you can rapidly come in and claim that niche for yourself.

Keyword Elite does have some areas that could be improved. The interface could be enhanced, and you can always have more export formats. The program does not come cheap as it was created for bigger affiliate marketers. Even so, there is no recurring fee required to buy this tool so if you really want to make some money online, Keyword Elite is a worthy investment.

I hope you enjoyed my Keyword Elite review. Remember to take a look at my site for more strategies on taking advantage of the Keyword Elite software.

Effective Techniques For Keyword Research

To succeed online you must focus on effective keyword research. By choosing the right keywords you can achieve search engine dominance. I have personally worked with hundreds of clients seeking number one rankings but who have given little if any focus on keyword research. This is incredibly important when your site is competing against well ranked sites that have been in the top ranking for some time.

To be successful with keyword research you must go beyond the concept of competitiveness. After finding a keyword that doesn’t have much competition, the next step is to research the type of traffic you can expect from number one rankings with that keyword. Using the Google keyword tool or other traffic estimator is a good way to see what type of traffic can be expected. Don’t spend any time on keywords that can’t generate enough traffic to make things worthwhile.

Once you have found a keyword phrase that isn’t all that competitive and receives an adequate number of monthly searches, the next step is to thoroughly check out your competition. Google the keyword phrases you want to optimize for a run a back link check on the top three ranked web sites. This indicates the strength of those web sites relative to their search engine ranking. The more inbound links, the more difficult it will be to rank higher than they do without some type of sustained link building campaign.

After doing your keyword research and confirming your choice of keywords and keyword phrases, it’s time to focus on improving your web pages. Enhance your meta tags, titles, and web copy to include your keyword phrases. This helps to tell the search engines what your web site is about so it can rank your site appropriately. In addition to the on page factors, Google weighs off page factors to decide web site ranking. Off page optimization requires a sustained effort that uses original content and additional links from third party websites. The most effective strategies are the most basic. Begin with a link building plan. Focus on article directories, web site directories, blogs, social bookmarking sites, and other resources where you can establish in bound links.

Your optimization strategy should include a plan for the continuous creation of inbound links. Build links too slowly and you’ll never get the authority needed to achieve the number one ranking. Build links too quickly and search engines may think you’re up to no good. If you want to improve your organic search engine ranking, begin with keyword research before link building. Having the right keywords can make the difference in your overall optimization results. Update your meta tags and web pages to integrate your keyword phrase, focus on link building over the long term, and you’re sure to achieve search engine dominance.
